| Operating Principle of Foam Removing Wire and Mesh |
Diameter of scattered liquid drops in the common chemical operation is about 0.1～5000μm. Normally, separation problem of the particles with the diameter of more than 100μm is easy to resolve because their sinking speed is relatively fast. Gravity Separation can be used to the liquid drops with diameter of more than 50μm; inertial impaction and centrifugal separation can be used to the drops of 5μm; Fiber filter or electro-static mist remover can be used to the smaller particles, or try to make the smaller mist gather into bigger ones.
Foam Remover Mesh (also called Foam Catcher, or Mist Catcher) are mainly used to separate the drops with diameter of more than 3μm～5μm. See the drawing at right side for its operating principle. When the vapor, which has certain liquid foam, ascending upward and passes the metal wire and mesh supported on the grid, the inertial action of the liquid foam resulted the impact of foam and filament and will adhere onto the filament surface. Further spread of the foams on the filaments surface, and the gravity sinking of the foams make the foams form bigger drops and flow to the intersection points along the filaments. The wetability of the filaments, tension of the liquid surface and capillary tube action make the drops bigger and bigger till their gravity exceed the resultant force of ascending buoyancy and surface tension, then will separated and falling down, flow into the downstream units. Foam removing can be achieved totally with the removing effect of more than over 97% when the gas passes the wire and mesh, only if conditions such as gas speed operation and so on are correctly chosen.
